Killed by hacking for domination, 6 houses were set on fire to take revenge

A man named Rabiul Islam was killed by the opponent’s sharp weapon due to a dispute over the spread of political dominance in Harinakundu Upazila of Jhenaidah. The relatives of the deceased set fire to six houses of the opponent to take immediate revenge for the incident.

This incident happened on Friday (March 31) afternoon. Rabiul died on the way to bring the seriously injured Rabiul to Dhaka around 10:30 pm. Son of Minhaj Uddin of Jorapukuria village of Rabiul Upazila.

After this incident, the relatives of the deceased set fire to 6 houses including the house of Awami League worker Akkach Ali in Harinakundu municipality. A man named Roni was hacked and injured.

Locals said that there was a dispute over the political supremacy of Awami League worker Akkach Ali of Jorapukuria village with Rabiul Islam, a supporter of Saiful Islam, the councilor of ward number 5 of the municipality. In the afternoon, Rabiul left the easy bike in a garage at Ektara intersection of Harinkundu city and went to pray at the local mosque at the Upazila Health Complex. When he came out after praying, 4/5 youths cut him and seriously injured him. He was later rescued and taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died.

Aktaruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC/Investigation) of Harinakundu Police Station confirmed the truth of the incident and said that there is tension in the area. Additional police have been deployed there.

Abdus Salam, Deputy Assistant Director of Jhenaidah Fire Service, said that some houses of 6 houses have been burnt so far. Information about the affected houses is being sought.
