The popular TV talk show MDR-Riverboat will have three new presenters, alternating weekly, alongside Kim Fisher
From January 20, the journalist and MDR program director Klaus Brink Bäumer and the entertainers Matze Knop and Wolfgang Lippert will be joining long-time presenter Kim Fisher on the MDR riverboat. This was announced yesterday by the MDR in Leipzig. The last two male moderators at Fisher’s side, Jörg Kachelmann and Sebstian Fitzek, left the most important talk show on MDR television last year at their own request.
The reorientation in the riverboat moderation is not without a challenge for regular moderator Kim Fisher: “Slowly I fear for my good reputation. Constantly changing men. But what should I do – I’m just looking forward to my new boy band like Bolle!”
According to the information, the first show starts on January 20th with Klaus Brink Bäumer at Fisher’s side. So far, he has known Germany’s talk shows mainly from the guest perspective, because he has been program manager at MDR in Leipzig since January 2021; before that he was a reporter, America correspondent and editor-in-chief of Spiegel, as well as a podcast host, columnist, filmmaker and author of several bestsellers. Brinkbaumer, 55, is now looking forward to “the most diverse, exciting and most popular of all talk shows in Central Germany” and “conversations that are as funny as they are profound, hopefully intelligent.” And he says he is particularly looking forward to “working with the honored riverboat captain Kim Fisher and the interaction and exchange with Matze Knop and Wolfgang Lippert”.
With the comedian Matze Knop, one of the best parodists in Germany enriches the round, it was said. The 48-year-old says: “It’s a great honor for me to be able to co-moderate the Riverboat show as one of the new presenters in the future, because I think it’s one of the most likeable and empathetic shows on German television. Knop had Already hired twice as a guest presenter in 2021 and 2022.
Entertainer, singer and moderator Wolfgang Lippert also knows the traditional talk show both as a guest and as a guest moderator: “I’ve been a riverboat fan from the very beginning. And I was always happy there and I’m looking forward to the new role of the questioner.
In the future, Riverboat will again broadcast exclusively from Leipzig after RBB ended its cooperation with MDR last year. The show was previously broadcast alternately from Berlin and Leipzig. The talk show first aired in early 1992.
