Kim Hee-sun Reveals Exclusive Celebrity Online Cafe of the Past, Reflects on G-Dragon & Se7en

A bygone era of Korean celebrity culture is being revisited, as actress Kim Hee-sun shared details about a once-exclusive online cafe accessible only too stars. The revelation came during her appearance on the web entertainment show ‘Salon drip 2,’ released on Thursday, October 26th.

Kim Hee-sun discussed her past connections with prominent figures like G-Dragon of the group Big Bang and singer Se7en, revealing they first connected through this now-defunct online community. When asked about her current relationship with G-Dragon, she stated, “We are not in contact now. It was a long time ago.”
The actress explained the cafe’s origins, noting it existed on a major Korean portal site and required verification to ensure membership was limited to celebrities.”It was a place where we had small conversations among ourselves,” she said. “That’s when I got to know G-Dragon and Se7en.”

Kim Hee-sun recalled G-Dragon fondly referencing her as “grandmother,” sharing that he had expressed gratitude for her kindness before his debut,stating he remembered her looking after him and buying him food. She estimates this interaction occurred when G-Dragon was still in high school.
The cafe also provided a unique glimpse into the dynamics between celebrities of different generations. Kim Hee-sun,in her 30s at the time,playfully referred to Se7en,then in his 20s,as “son” due to their age difference. She chuckled, adding, “Seven is in his 40s now. He still looks like a baby to me. He looks like he’s wearing heel shoes, and I guess I’ve lived a long time too.”

The online forum wasn’t just a space for pleasant interactions; it also served as an early indicator of celebrity relationship drama.According to Kim Hee-sun, breakups and dating news within the group often foreshadowed public announcements. “Even in that cafe, if people were dating and broke up, there was an uproar, saying, ‘We’re leaving. we’re going to end up leaving,'” she explained. “If I thought, ‘This guy is going to be in the news,’ it really was in the news.”
The cafe, however, is no longer active. When asked if it still existed, Kim Hee-sun confirmed, “It’s gone now. It was broken down a long time ago.”
Shifting to her present social life, Kim Hee-sun identified a group she calls the “Space Club” as her current preferred social outlet. She described it as a gathering for drinks on rainy days, noting the frequent rainfall lately has kept the group active. “It’s a mix of friends who play golf, friends I met in society, and friends from college,” she said. “They all came together because of me, but now they’ve become closer to each other.”
