Kim Kardashian Defends Daughter North West’s Experimentation with Fake Piercings and Tattoos
Kim Kardashian swiftly addressed online criticism directed at her 12-year-old daughter, North West, after the young influencer showcased temporary piercings and facial tattoos on TikTok. The reality star dismissed the controversy as a “non-issue” in a direct response posted on the joint TikTok account she shares with North on Saturday, October 25.
North West recently unveiled her bold new look in a TikTok video that quickly garnered nearly 5 million views and 180,000 “likes.” The clip featured a star tattoo positioned under her eye and her name scripted in cursive on her cheek. She completed the look with a faux septum piercing, braided blue highlights, henna designs on her hand, and a decorative grill over her teeth.

recognizing potential backlash, North proactively clarified that all her stylistic choices were temporary, stating, “Fake piercings and fake tatts 4 life.” Despite this disclaimer, some social media users expressed disapproval.One commenter labeled the look “shocking,” while another questioned the appropriateness for a 12-year-old, exclaiming, “She’s TWELVE??”
Though, many others defended North’s self-expression. A user on X (formerly Twitter) asked, “None of you tried fake tattoos as kids??” Another commenter succinctly pointed out, “It’s really not that serious, hence the word ‘fake.'”
This isn’t the first time Kim and North have explored the world of faux body modifications. In 2019, Kim shared a photo of North sporting a fake nose ring at her great-grandmother Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell’s 85th birthday celebration. The pair have also been seen with matching faux piercings at various events.
Kim Kardashian has consistently championed her daughter’s creative freedom. During an October 15 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she revealed her supportive approach to North’s fashion choices. “I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is,'” Kardashian shared. “It makes her so happy. I would never take that creative away from her.” She further emphasized North’s confidence, noting, “She’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care if someone says they don’t like my blue hair, or my this or that,’…And she’s really confident and is like, ‘I probably wouldn’t be hanging out with those peopel.'”
The incident comes as kim navigates a recent health scare,having disclosed a diagnosis of “a little aneurysm” possibly linked to stress on her family’s Hulu show,The Kardashians. Despite this, Kardashian remains focused on multiple endeavors, including her pursuit of a law degree. She confirmed on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, October 24, that she will be qualified to practice law in two weeks and envisions a future potentially shifting away from her public persona to focus on a legal career.
