A newlywed groomS culinary preferences took center stage on the latest episode of JTBC’s long-running cooking show, ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,’ with chef Kim Poong emerging victorious for the fourth consecutive time. The episode, broadcast on Thursday, featured the refrigerator of Kwak Tub, a recent groom, and challenged the chefs to create dishes reflecting both his post-diet cravings and his pregnant wife’s tastes.

A Battle of Bold Flavors: Octopus vs. Raw Beef

The first round pitted chef Namno Yoon against artist Kim Poong, tasking them with transforming the contents of Kwak tub’s refrigerator – revealing traces of a recent diet – into a satisfying meal. Yoon presented ‘Don’t Become an Octopus,’ a dish that instantly captivated with a dramatic fire show during its planning. Kim Poong countered with the visually striking ‘Yukhoe Sasang Whole Cake,’ a raw beef creation.

Kwak Tub, initially impressed by the speed of Yoon’s dish – “I was horrified and touched. In particular, I’m surprised that ‘Don’t Be an Octopus’ was done in 15 minutes,” he remarked – found himself slightly underwhelmed by the flavor.”It’s so delicious, but I had too high expectations,” he confessed, a comment that visibly disheartened Yoon.Despite enjoying the aroma and addictive quality of the octopus,Kwak Tub admitted his personal aversion to the ingredient presented a challenge.

Kim Poong’s ‘Yukhoe Sasang Whole Cake’ initially raised eyebrows, with kwak Tub questioning the use of chili oil. however, the dish quickly won him over. “Becuase it’s tofu cream, you don’t feel it, and it’s light,” he explained, praising the balance between the spice and the raw meat. “I thought the raw meat would be strange, but since I ate it with cooked meat,it was well balanced.” Ultimately, Kwak tub favored the spicy kick of Kim Poong’s creation, declaring, “I guess I liked spicy food better (as I finished the diet).” This preference secured Kim Poong’s fourth consecutive win, leaving Namno Yoon in defeat.

The second competition shifted focus to creating dishes to satisfy the cravings of a pregnant woman, with Italian chef rivals Sam kim and Antimo facing off. Kwak Tub expressed his desire to learn how to prepare pasta, a dish he missed from his time abroad, for his wife.

Sam kim’s ‘Soonpung Pasta’ immediately impressed with its complex aroma, described by Kwak Tub as smelling of both braised ribs and cheese. He lauded the dish as a “perfect fusion,” praising its “deep and luxurious taste” and predicting his wife would adore it. Antimo’s ‘Antiamo’ pasta also garnered high praise, with Kwak Tub noting its resemblance to familiar tomato spaghetti with a subtle hint of red pepper paste. He even suggested it would be “good to eat as a hangover cure.”

Despite the high quality of both dishes, Kwak Tub ultimately chose Antimo’s creation, stating, “Both dis
