A surprising confession of unpreparedness has ignited early drama on TV Azteca’s new reality show, The VIP Farm, as influencer Kim Shantal admitted she didn’t fully understand the program’s premise and almost walked away before filming even began. The revelation has quickly become the first major emotional storyline of the series, generating buzz on social media as the show attempts to compete with the popular The House of the Famous Mexico.
The unexpected twist unfolded shortly after the show’s launch, with Shantal expressing deep regret over accepting the project.”My manager told me: ‘Hey, I have this project for you.’ I told him: ‘yes, obviously, I’ll do it’ as I had heard good things,” Shantal explained to fellow contestant Kike Mayagoitia. However, viewing the promotional materials quickly changed her outlook. “I recorded the promos, but as I saw the promos, there was the chicken and the hen. In my stupidity of getting excited about 24/7, I didn’t quite understand the concept of reality, the truth is.”
Shantal, accustomed to the more glamorous settings of shows like Revenge of the Exes and Warriors, initially believed The VIP Farm would be a standard reality competition with constant camera access. The reality, however, involved a far more hands-on experience – living and working alongside farm animals.
“I feel like I made a mistake, I’m sorry, I won’t be able to face this, I’m panicked,” Shantal reportedly told production staff, nearly abandoning the show altogether. TV Azteca intervened,clarifying that the animals would be contained within designated spaces. “They told me no, that ‘every animal has its space.’ So I said, well, I guess I can handle it,” she recounted.
Despite her initial distress, Shantal ultimately decided to remain on the show, accepting duty for her misjudgment and committing to fulfilling her contractual obligations. The question now looms: will she endure the challenges of rural life and see the competition through to the end?
