This means that the Legislative Assembly had to pay the expenses of the president of Parliament, Sigfrido Reyes, and the FMLN deputy, Manuel Flores, who traveled to Palestine to bring a “message of solidarity” and to verify the damage caused in that country by the attacks. of Israel.

Reyes declared that “this is an act of humanity, we believe that the Salvadoran people, among many values they have, preserve and promote the value of solidarity; just as at some point our people have been the target of solidarity actions from other peoples of the world.”

So far the Assembly has not reported in detail the expenditure of resources destined to carry out this official mission, which would include expenses for airfare and travel expenses.

During his trip, the president of the Assembly met with the president of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, who, according to Reyes, thanked him for the solidarity shown by El Salvador.

The trip on an official mission to Palestine was carried out despite criticism from citizens on social networks who considered that doing so was unnecessary.

In 2013, the Legislative Assembly spent more than $1 million for official missions of deputies, substitutes and legislative employees.
