Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on the world to solidarity with Ukraine. “We in Ukraine are ready for the worst, now the world must support us,” the politician said in an interview with the German edition of Welt am Sonntag, which will be released on Sunday, February 13.

According to Klitschko, Vladimir Putin seeks world influence, “and the West should know that after Ukraine, the Baltic countries will be next in line.” “We are just the beginning,” said the Kiev mayor.

“If Olaf Scholz and other state leaders speak to Putin, they must make one thing clear to him: our entire country will fight against the attack, and this will have very serious consequences,” Klitschko stressed.

Scholz travels to Kiev and Moscow

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz intends to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on February 14, and the day after this meeting, the head of the German government will visit Moscow.

Earlier, on January 27, in an interview with DW, Vitali Klitschko spoke in favor of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict around Ukraine, but stressed that it cannot be achieved at the expense of the interests of his country. “It’s not a secret: Russia wants to restore the Soviet empire. But we don’t want to go back to the USSR,” Klitschko said.

On January 24, in an interview with the German tabloid Bild, the mayor of Kiev accused Germany of “betraying friends” for refusing to agree on arms supplies to Ukraine.
