Kofola Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Nobilis Tilia
Kofola, a leading Central European beverage and food group, has acquired 100% of Nobilis Tilia, a Czech company specializing in skin care and aromatherapy. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Kofola’s strategic move signals a deepening commitment to natural ingredients and wellness, building upon its existing expertise in herbal processing. The acquisition ensures continuity, as the current CEO and CEO, Martin Růžička, will remain at the helm of Nobilis Tilia, with the company’s founders continuing as advisors.
Strengthening Kofola’s Herbal Expertise
The importance of herbs to Kofola’s identity was underscored by a senior official, who stated that herbs are “key for the group, they form the basis of the recipe of Kofola and other drinks.” This acquisition builds on Kofola’s 2018 purchase of traditional manufacturer Leros, which allowed the company to significantly expand its capabilities in growing and processing herbs. “Thanks to the acquisition of Leros, we penetrated into the secrets of growing and processing herbs and became one of the largest processors of herbs in the food industry in the Czech Republic,” the official added.
Nobilis Tilia’s Legacy of Natural Wellness
Founded in 1990 by teacher and naturalist Zbyněk Šedivý – initially under the name Nobela – Nobilis Tilia has a long-standing reputation for harnessing the power of medicinal plants. Šedivý’s initial focus was on understanding and utilizing the benefits of plants for human health, a philosophy that continues to drive the company’s focus on skin care and aromatherapy products.
Kofola’s Extensive European Footprint
Kofola operates fourteen production plants across five European markets, boasting a diverse portfolio of well-known brands. Beyond the flagship Kofola beverage, the group’s offerings include Rajec, Korunní, Ondrášovka, Kláštorná Kalcia, Jupí, Vinea, and Semtex. The company’s holdings also encompass fresh juice and salad producer UGO, tea producer Leros, beer producers Holba, Zubr, and Litovel Pivovary CZ Group, Slovenian Radenska, and Croatian mineral water producer Studenac.
This acquisition represents a strategic alignment for Kofola, further solidifying its position as a diversified player in the European food and beverage market and demonstrating a clear commitment to leveraging the growing consumer demand for natural and wellness-focused products.
