The jewelery owner and his wife, who were in distress due to health problems and the Kovid crisis, were found to have committed suicide in the bedroom. The deceased have been identified as Keshavan (55) and his wife Selvam (50). Keshavan had lost the ability to move both his legs due to fever 20 years ago. Then life was in a wheelchair.

He went to the jewelry store alone in an automatic wheelchair. Haripriya (19), the only daughter, saw her father, who was having difficulty breathing, and his mother, who was trying to comfort him, at around 6 in the morning. According to police, Keshavan’s wife may have committed suicide by consuming cyanide after realizing that he had tried to commit suicide.

Haripriya told police that while calling an ambulance to take her father to the hospital, her mother tried to eat something and she snatched it. Neighbors said Keshavan had been in critical condition for several days due to physical ailments. The business slowdown following the Kovid crisis was also alarming. The bodies were shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
