Kovid diffusion; Saudi nationals banned from traveling to 16 countries, including India

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has banned Saudi nationals from traveling to 16 countries, including India, amid renewed Kovid outbreaks.

Apart from India, Saudi Arabia has temporarily banned travel to Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, Congo, Libya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus and Venezuela.

The news was reported by Gulf News.

The Director General of Passports of the Saudi Arabian Government issued a statement on Saturday.

The increase in the number of Kovid cases reported in these countries in recent weeks has prompted Saudi Arabia to take this step.

However, the statement did not say whether citizens of India or other listed countries were barred from traveling to Saudi Arabia or entering the country.

India has also seen a slight increase in Kovid cases in recent days. Last day, 2226 new cases and 65 deaths were reported in the country.

However, Saudi Arabia has not yet confirmed the presence of monkey pox in the country. A statement from the Saudi Ministry of Health said, “Citizens should not be worried about monkeypox. Monkeypox has not been confirmed in the country.”

Deputy Minister of Health Abdullah Aziri said the Saudi Ministry of Health had the capability to act against any suspected cases of monkey pox in the country or to monitor the situation.

Saudi Arabia’s announcement comes amid concerns over the spread of monkeypox in several European countries, including the World Health Organization.

The WHO has confirmed that 80 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 11 countries.
