Thiruvananthapuram> KSRTC revises student travel concession. The maximum age limit for granting student concession has been increased to 25 years. There is no travel concession for categories such as pensioner students and those studying regular courses where no age limit applies. For students of government and semi-government schools, special schools and specially abled students, the current system will continue. There will be no concession if the parents of students in Government and Semi-Government Colleges and Government and Semi-Government Professional Colleges are income tax payers. The current concession system will continue for BPL children in self-help colleges and private unaided schools. Self-help colleges, private unaided and recognized schools have to pay 35 percent of the actual ticket price from the student and 35 percent from the management. 30 percent discount on the fare will be allowed. The order will come into effect from June. According to CMD Biju Prabhakar’s proposal, KSRTC has incurred a financial liability of Rs 966.31 crore from 2016 to 2020 as part of various freebies.
