Following this, DMK senior leaders KN Nehru and EV Velu held talks with the leaders of the coalition parties regarding the issue of local government election posts yesterday. All the coalition parties, including the Congress Committee, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the Marxist Communist Party, the Communist Party of India and the Renaissance Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) were involved in the talks. In this, it is said that Kumbakonam Corporation and Salem and Kanchipuram Deputy Mayor have been confirmed for the Congress. It has also been reported that the post of a regional chairman in Chennai has been allotted to the Congress. With this, the DMK has now offered to give up one of the 21 corporations.
