Kutxabank and Don’t be have come together to favor the improvement of the energy efficiency of homes in the Basque Country with facilities to finance their rehabilitation.

The collaboration agreement has been signed by the president of Mugabi, Iñigo Escobal, and by the CEO of KutxabankEduardo Ruiz de Gordejuela, within the framework of the commitment that both firms maintain with “the objective of contributing to the decarbonisation of the Euskadi residential stock”.

Mugabi is made up of four leading companies specializing in the processing of aid and the execution of works, such as Viuda de Sainz, Edinor (a subsidiary of Petronor), GNE Finance (in which Fundación Repsol participates) and the Kursaal Group. Mugabi collaborates with homeowners’ associations, property managers, architects, and homeowners on building rehabilitation projects to achieve more energy efficient homes.

By virtue of the agreement, the owners who carry out the rehabilitation works through Mugabi will be able to finance up to 100% of the work budget, and benefit from the conditions offered by the Kutxabank Energy Efficiency Loan. Additionally, these works could have a non-refundable grant, which will be used as a guarantee for the operation.

The president of Mugabi, Iñigo Escobal, stressed that this agreement “represents a good opportunity for the communities of owners”, since it brings together two specialized agents “in speeding up the processing of European aid and the financing of the works”.

For his part, Ruiz de Gordejuela has indicated that it is a new measure in line with his responsible banking model that “supports the transition towards a decarbonized economy, and that for years has been committed to marketing financial products that favor reforms and purchase of efficient homes, as well as the acquisition of eco-sustainable vehicles and appliances.
