Former Kuwait national team goalkeeper Abdul Redha Abbas confirmed that the issue of determining the number of Iraqi fans allowed to enter Kuwait to support their national team against the Kuwaiti national team on the (11)th of next month in the World Cup qualifiers has not been addressed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior.

Abbas said in a statement to the “Sports Today” program broadcast by the Iraqi News Channel and followed by the (INA): “The decision to determine the number of fans allowed to enter Kuwaiti territory is specific to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, not the Kuwaiti Football Association. Granting approvals for entry is the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior, and we have not heard any statement or comment from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior so far.”
He added, “There may be certain interpretations in this regard, and Kuwait cannot open its doors wide open. A working mechanism must be found between the Ministries of Interior in Iraq and Kuwait to organize this matter.”
He added: “I assure the Iraqi public that the doors will be opened for them, and that Kuwait will embrace the generous Iraqi public with whom we have strong relations, stressing that the issue of determining the number of Iraqi fans is not real, and was intended to attack each other, and we are far from that.”
