A disturbing finding has halted renovation work at a building in Kwitang, Central Jakarta, as workers unearthed the remains of two individuals. Workers preparing to renovate a structure ravaged by fire stumbled upon the human skeletons on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The remains were found concealed beneath the ceiling of the administration office on the second floor of the ACC building, located in the Senen district of Kwitang.
Inquiry Underway by Central Jakarta Metro Police
The Central Jakarta Metro Police are leading the investigation, meticulously examining the scene and attempting to identify the victims. according to a senior official, the remains were in a severely burnt condition, making immediate identification unfeasible.
“Central Jakarta Metro Police are currently still carrying out investigations regarding the discovery of two human skeletons in a burnt condition whose shape is no longer recognizable in the administration office on the 2nd floor of the ACC building, Kwitang, Senen,” the official stated to reporters on Friday, October 31, 2025.
The discovery was made by members of the building’s technical team who were conducting preliminary checks ahead of the planned renovations. “From the building technical team who will carry out construction checks for renovation because the condition of the building has completely burned down. Consequently of the crime scene investigation, two human skeletons were found buried under the burning ceiling,” the official explained.
Building Fire Linked to August riots
Investigators believe the building was initially damaged during riots that erupted across jakarta in late August 2025. A spokesperson for the Central Jakarta Police confirmed the timeline.
“Yes, August 29. During the riots,” stated the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Roby saputra, when asked about the date of the fire.

“The two skeletons are at the Kramat Jati Police hospital for further forensic examination including taking DNA samples,” a senior official confirmed.
