Reports are increasing that these are Kylian Mbappe’s last months as a Paris Saint-Germain player. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the France captain has informed the club that he will leave at the end of the season, when his contract expires, so that he can join any other team as a free agent. According to the report, the terms of the star’s departure have not yet been finalized, but an official announcement on the matter is expected in the coming months.

The report from Athletic joins many reports in the French media about Mbappe’s next step, with the most prominent among them being Daniel Riolo, who in 2022 was the first to report that he would extend his contract, and Julien Laurent, who is close to the Mbappe family.

The top candidate to take Mbappe, naturally, is Real Madrid, but according to the report, there are those around Mbappe who are not convinced by the La Liga leader’s offer, which delays the process. It is also claimed that Mbappe knew from the beginning of January the terms offered to him in Madrid, and they are free to negotiate with him, since he is in the last six months of his contract.

The 24-year-old striker signed his current contract in the summer of 2022 for a two-year contract, which included an option for another season (2024/25), but the option is only on Mbappe’s part and the deadline for its activation was last July 31, which caused the removal of the star from the F. S.J. in the summer.

At the time, according to Athletic, Madrid president Florentino Perez was in direct contact with Mbappe and was the main driving force behind the Spanish club’s latest move for the player who snubbed them two years ago for a contract extension, despite many believing he was on his way to Madrid.

Remember, Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco in the summer of 2017 for 180 million euros. In six and a half seasons at the club, he scored 243 goals in 290 appearances in all competitions, and this season he scored 31 goals in 30 games in all competitions.
