Released in May, “Padam Padam” quickly cemented its status as a viral hit and song of the summer with 157 million total streams, four weeks in the UK Top 10, a stable No. 1 on the UK airplay chart and remixes by HAAi, Jax Jones and Absolute. There was even a request for the term “Padam” to be added to the dictionary!
“Tension”, released on Friday 1 September, debuted in the UK Top 20 and at number seven on the UK airplay chart in its first week of release. TikTok users around the world welcomed the track with great enthusiasm.
Speaking about the genesis of “Tension”, Kylie says: “I started this album with an open vision and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums, there wasn’t a theme, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of specific moments, always trying to ‘serve’ the song. I wanted to celebrate the individuality of each song and dive into it.”
On November 3, Kylie will kick off her first series of headline shows in Las Vegas at “Voltaire,” the new place to be in American nightlife. Weaving the boundaries between intimate club atmosphere, concert and non-stop entertainment venue, “Voltaire” will inaugurate a new night scene with Kylie at the forefront, including songs from her new album and great hits from the past.
2023 has already seen Kylie perform on American Idol and play a surprise set at Capital’s Summertime Ball. Next week she will perform a one-off show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, and later this year she will be a guest on ITV with a show at the Royal Albert Hall to be broadcast in December.
