‘La vida padre’ has been awarded the IX EZAE Prize awarded by the Basque cinema association for being the film with a Basque production that obtained the most viewers in 2022 in theaters in the Basque Country. The award ceremony will take place on September 23, within the framework of the San Sebastián Film Festival, with the presence of the Film Festival Steering Committee, EZAE, and officials from the Culture Department of the Basque Government.
The Basque movie theater association (EZAE), which has 15 cinemas and 80 theaters, has decided to grant this recognition after verifying that it was the production with Basque participation (Kowalski Films) that brought the most viewers to theaters in 2022. The film It is directed by Joaquín Mazón and the cast includes actors and actresses such as Karra Elejalde, Lander Otaola, Maribel Salas, Gorka Aguinagalde, Karmele Aranburu, Santi Ugalde and Iker Galartza, among others.
Furthermore, as a novelty, this year EZAE will award, at the same ceremony of the IX EZAE Award, the Gure Zinemaa ‘Cinco little wolves’ award, for his “great contribution” to the Basque film sector and for the great reception he has received from the critics and the public.
