A tearful farewell marked teh end of La Voix’s journey on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this weekend, as the drag queen and her partner, Aljaz Skorjanec, were forced to withdraw from the competition following medical advice. The announcement came during the annual Blackpool edition of the show, filmed live from the iconic Tower Ballroom on Saturday, November 22nd.
The news was delivered by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, casting a shadow over the typically celebratory Blackpool weekend. La Voix, whose real name is Chris Dennis, had previously been given a reprieve from performing in Blackpool due to an injury, but it has now been resolute that she is unable to continue in the competition.
The dancer shared her heartbreak on social media, stating, “Darlings, it breaks my heart to say this, but after all week of hoping, healing, and doing everything I possibly could, my injury simply hasn’t improved the way we prayed it would.” She continued, expressing gratitude for the experience, saying, “This show has been one of the most unusual experiences of my life.”
The withdrawal leaves six contestants remaining in the competition, with Sunday’s results show proceeding without a dance-off.The evening also featured performances from ‘Strictly’ legends and a set by singer Lewis Capaldi.
A Heartfelt Goodbye at Blackpool
Following the announcement, La Voix and Skorjanec joined Daly and Winkleman for a poignant conversation reflecting on their time on the show. La Voix emphasized the warmth and acceptance she experienced, stating, “Don’t hate me, it’s not been the dancing [that she loved the most]. It’s just been welcomed on this show with this amazing warmth from everyone.” She added, “I came into this show as a minority as a red head.You just all embraced me wonderfully.”
Skorjanec echoed these sentiments, praising la Voix’s infectious spirit. “La Voix had everyone in stitches on a Saturday and Sunday night. I was in stitches seven days a week,” he shared. He continued, playfully noting, “Genuinely, I haven’t done a single crunch in the past four months, but I got my six pack back. It’s amazing.”

The professional dancer further elaborated on the deep connection forged with his partner. “We always said I made a friend for life, but I’ve been lucky this year as I feel like I made two friends,” Skorjanec said. He described their time together as filled with laughter and joy, emphasizing La Voix’s positive influence.
Visibly moved by Skorjanec’s words, La Voix paid tribute to his unwavering support. “You have made me carry on when I questioned myself. You made me laugh through the toughest days. When I hadn’t thought I could do something, you never gave up on me once, not once,” she said. “I am going to leave this experience, a braver, happier and more confident person.”
Despite her disappointment,La Voix maintained her signature humor,quipping,”At least it gives someone else a chance to win now.”
