Central Hesse Police Investigate Break-In, Hit-and-Run, and Property Damage
A surge in criminal activity across Central Hesse has prompted investigations into a residential burglary, a drunk driving incident involving a scooter collision, and a case of property damage, authorities reported on December 3, 2025. Hüttenberg-Weidenhausen Home Burglarized
On December 2, 2025, an unknown individual broke into a single-family home on Schießberger Weg in Hüttenberg-Weidenhausen. Between 4:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., the perpetrator shattered a window, reached inside, and gained entry to the residence. Once inside, the suspect stole a wallet containing no cash. The damage to the window is estimated at 500 euros.
Authorities are actively investigating and are requesting anyone who observed suspicious individuals or vehicles in the vicinity of Schießberger Weg to contact the Wetzlar police station at (06441) 918-0.
Scooter Driver Struck by Drunk Driver in Wetzlar
A 30-year-old scooter driver narrowly avoided injury on December 2, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle on Gabelsberger Straße in Wetzlar. At approximately 7:35 p.m., a VW Golf, driven by a 40-year-old woman, collided with the scooter as it approached from Hans-Breuer-Straße. The scooter driver and his 28-year-old passenger were unharmed.
The Golf’s driver initially fled the scene but later returned. Police officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the driver, and a subsequent breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content exceeding 2.1 per mille. A blood sample was obtained by a physician at the Wetzlar police station. The woman, a resident of Wetzlar, now faces charges related to drunk driving. The total damage resulting from the collision is estimated at 700 euros.
Hit-and-Run Damages Vehicle in Solms-Niederbiel
Police in Solms-Niederbiel are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred on December 1, 2025. An unknown driver collided with a parked VW Arteon on Ringstrasse, opposite house number 62, between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. The impact caused approximately 3,000 euros in damage to the vehicle’s front left bumper. The driver responsible fled the scene.
