Dhe Lamborghini Countach is an icon in automotive history. As the successor to the equally legendary Miura, the super sports car was presented as a study at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971. Three years later, production of the wedge-shaped car began, which visually had so little in common with the Miura. A good 2,000 units were built by 1990, then the Diablo followed.
50 years after the salon debut, Lamborghini is now releasing a small series that will be called the Countach LPI 800-4. The 4.87 meter long sports car is a completely new car. Its monocoque chassis and body are made of carbon, but it remains like a V12-cylinder engine with now 6.5 liters displacement, and there is also some electrical support, with the designation mild hybrid at a total of 814 hp, of which 34 electrical, somewhat anachronistic.
The first Countach had a displacement of only 3.9 liters and 375 hp with a relatively moderate 361 Nm of torque. In 2021 there will be a maximum of 720 Nm at 6750 revolutions per minute, which will enable a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds. The maximum speed is 355 km / h. Consumption data are not yet available. The term Countach comes from the Piedmontese dialect, the word “Kun-tatsch” is spoken and is an exclamation of admiration or astonishment. The car has scissor doors, the power is transferred to all four wheels, an automatic seven-speed gearbox takes care of shifting.

Because a lot of carbon is used, the dry weight of the car is less than 1.6 tons, and the power-to-weight ratio is just under two kilograms per horsepower. Lamborghini wants to charge around two million euros for the driving machine, which should only be available 112 times. The colors available are tones like the original from the 1970s, the interior comes in classic leather. The bolide is only of limited use for vacation trips. The trunk has a volume of only 63 liters.
