Former Soccer Star Lamisha Musonda reveals Terminal Illness, Expresses Gratitude in Final Days
A poignant message shared on social media this week revealed that former professional soccer player lamisha Musonda has been diagnosed with a serious, undisclosed illness and has only “a few days left” to live. Teh 33-year-old, who retired in 2020, opened up about his struggles on Instagram, expressing both sadness and gratitude as he faces his final days.
Musonda, who played as a midfielder for clubs including Chelsea and Anderlecht, detailed a challenging period of declining health. “Life has so many ups and downs and no one really knows the pain you’re dealing with,” he wrote in one post,accompanied by photos from his athletic career. “This has been a tough and grueling couple of years for me. And it is with sadness that I must inform you that I’ve been struggling trying to get my health back to normal hence why I’ve been unable to come on social media.”
the former athlete acknowledged the gravity of his condition, stating he is now “fighting to stay alive.” He humbly requested support and prayers during this difficult time, emphasizing the unwavering strength of his family. “My family and I are fighting and I won’t quit until it is indeed time for my last breath,” he shared.
Reflecting on his career, Musonda expressed a sense of peace and thankfulness. He noted being “blessed with a beautiful early stage of my life” and lamented the possibility of not being able to personally thank those who supported him. “But so many fantastic people I wish I had the chance to thank, face to face.It pains me that I might not have the chance to do so,” he wrote. In a particularly moving post,he acknowledged the preciousness of life,stating,”As I realize I only have a few days left,I also realize I had a lot of people by my side and I’ll always cherish the memories. Life is hard but the view is great ❤️🙏🏾.”
Musonda’s career spanned several clubs, including Spanish teams Llagostera and Palamos, Congolese club Mazembe, and Belgian team Anderlecht, in addition to his time with Chelsea. He comes from a soccer-rich family; his father, Charly Musonda, also played for Anderlecht, and his brothers, Tika and Charly Jr., both enjoyed careers with Anderlecht and Chelsea before retiring.
The news has prompted an outpouring of support from the soccer community. Fellow Belgian star Romelu Lukaku offered words of encouragement, writing, “Courage Lamisha. We are with you.” Former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia also expressed her hope for his recovery, stating, “I sincerely hope you manage to overcome your health struggles! Thinking of you and your family.”
In a final message of gratitude, Musonda thanked those who had sent prayers and positive messages. “I want to thank God for the prayers, kind messages loaded with positivity and love that I have received from everyone.
