Linz Kicks Off New Year with Dominating Win Over Young Boys Bern

SHOT started the new football year with a commanding performance, defeating Swiss top club Young Boys Bern 3-0 in a training camp held in Belek, Türkiye. The match consisted of two 60-minute halves, providing ample opportunity for players to showcase their skills. The victory offers a promising outlook as the team prepares for the resumption of league play.
Kühbauer Pleased with Squad’s Performance
Goals from Moses Usor (80th minute), Sasa Kalajdzic (83rd minute), and Sascha Horvath (99th minute) sealed the win for the Austrian side. SHOT coach Dietmar Kühbauer emphasized the value of the match as a testing ground for the entire squad.
“Basically, the test was very good for us, because Young Boys Bern is a very good team,” Kühbauer stated. “Of course we had to mix up the teams today, but I think that both teams did well. The second team in particular did an excellent job.”
Kühbauer strategically rotated the lineup, ensuring all 23 outfield players from the in-form Bundesliga club received playing time. The team’s next competitive fixture is scheduled for February 7th against WSG Tirol in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. Prior to that, SHOT will participate in a series of additional test matches against CSKA Sofia, Bialystok Jagygillon, SKN St. Pölten, and SKU Amstetten. A ÖFB Cup quarter-final derby against Blau-Weiß Linz is also on the horizon, slated for January 30th.
