Lhe Framework for consultation on formalization in Guinea was officially launched this Friday, March 10, 2023 in Conakry.

This Framework is proposed by the Agency for the Promotion of Private Investments (APIP), the National Directorate for Youth Employment, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Handicrafts and the Support Mission for the Mobilization of internal resources (MAMRI) with the support of UNDP through the Economic Transformation and Sustainable Development Cluster (TEDD) to support actions in favor of the formalization of businesses and jobs. Because it is established that the informality of the economy remains a major concern in Guinea, because of its weight and the challenges posed in terms of decent job opportunities, redistribution of the wealth created, business development and efficiency of public services.

It was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and SMEs, Mr. Mohamed Bakayoko who presided over the ceremony in the presence of the UNDP Resident Representative in Guinea, Mr. Luc Joël Grégoire, the Director of the Agency for the Promotion of Private Investments, Mrs. Diana Kouyaté, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, El Mamadou Baldé and the Advisor, in charge of the digitalization of the Ministry of Technical Education, Vocational Training and Employment, Mrs. Maïmouna Diakhaby and the MAMRI representative, Mr. Kebeya Bah.

Thus, this workshop, which brings together all the stakeholders around the issue of informality, aims mainly to launch the establishment of a multi-actor consultation framework and to propose a roadmap and a timetable for priority activities on the coming years.

It will also involve exchanging good practices in Africa and elsewhere, and discussing incentives for formalization while focusing on the establishment of a new legal status for those who are in self-employment (entrepreneurial status, self-entrepreneur status, etc.)
