Speaking on the latest show of Aurim Kamantauskas’ podcast “Kamantinėmai”, L. Vagonė regretted that the elderly couple who have spent more than half of their lives together still do not have the opportunity to officially legalize their love in Lithuania.

“Compared to other European countries, we are behind in this area. Denying people of the same sex the opportunity to get married is, to say the least, superhuman, inhumane, because it means that you don’t recognize that people are diverse, that there are all kinds of people,” in the “Kamantinėjimi. About creators and characters” said wedding planner L. Vagonė while talking to the director, head of event services group “ReKūrai” A. Kamantauskas.

Although L. Vagonė started her career as a wedding planner more than 19 years ago, she will organize a wedding of a same-sex couple for the first time only this year.

“I feel some kind of injustice because of this, which I want to correct,” L. Vagonė remembers the quick decision to join the team in preparing a same-sex wedding ceremony.

The sensitive love story of the men really united many Lithuanian decorators, stylists and other creators supporting the LGBTQ+ community to realize the couple’s long-standing dream and encouraged them to organize a memorable wedding for free.

“You don’t meet people with such a beautiful relationship, such intelligence every day, so when the organizer of humanist ceremonies asked me if I would agree to organize their wedding free of charge, I answered that I was 100 percent in favor. I am very happy that many other professionals in their field also contribute free of charge to the organization of this beautiful celebration”, says L. Vagonė.

In A. Kamantauskas’ new show “Kamantinėmaiė”, the wedding planner L. Vagonė reveals that the couple’s wedding will take place in Lithuania, but she still keeps the exact location a secret – it will be an intimate, closed and very long-awaited celebration and one of the most memorable moments of this couple’s life together.

“The public will certainly be able not only to see images from this event, but also to express their civic will – we will give everyone the opportunity to sign a symbolic marriage certificate,” smiles wedding planner L. Vagonė.

She openly supports the entire LGBTQ+ community and says that she is very disappointed that same-sex couples still do not have the opportunity to officially enter into marriage. “Whenever I meet a couple, I cringe every time. I cry because of that injustice,” said L. Vagonė on the show.

L. Vagonė also invites Lithuanian creators who support freedom of love to contribute free of charge to the wedding of a same-sex couple: “If you support and see where you could join here, write or call – we will come up with something. That unity, how everyone enthusiastically contributes, really gives hope for change”, smiles the wedding planner.
