Laurie Canter Chooses LIV Golf, joins All-English Majesticks GC Team

A rising star in professional golf, Laurie Canter, has declined a PGA Tour card to rejoin the LIV Golf league, solidifying an all-English lineup with Majesticks GC. The decision comes after Canter finished seventh in the prestigious Race to Dubai standings, qualifying him for play in the United States.

The 36-year-old’s return to LIV Golf was officially announced on Monday, marking a significant development in the ongoing landscape of professional golf. Canter’s move fills the vacancy left by the relegation of Henrik Stenson, and simultaneously opens a pathway for fellow Englishman, Daniel brown, to compete on the North American tour.

Did you know? – Canter’s seventh-place finish in the Race to Dubai automatically qualified him for a PGA Tour card, but he opted to return to LIV Golf instead, demonstrating his preference for the team format.

A Proven Winner Returns to LIV Golf

Canter is no stranger to success, having secured victories at last year’s European Open and the 2025 Bahrain championship. His previous experience within the LIV Golf League, as a member of Gleeks GC and a league reserve from 2022 to 2024, clearly influenced his decision.

“Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one,” Canter stated. “The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.”

He further emphasized the appeal of Majesticks GC, adding, “To return to the league with majesticks GC is a huge honor, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition and identity that really resonates with me.I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”

Pro tip: – LIV Golf’s team format differs from traditional individual stroke play. Players contribute to both individual and team scores, adding a strategic layer to competition.

Recent PGA Tour Experience

Prior to his return to LIV Golf, Canter tested the waters on the PGA Tour in 2024, participating in seven tournaments. While he faced challenges, missing the cut in four events, he demonstrated his competitive spirit with a tie for 55th at the US Open at Oakmont.

Notably, Canter became the first golfer to transition from LIV Golf to a strictly PGA Tour event at this year’s Players Championship. His eligibility stemmed from a rule allowing participation more then one year after a previous LIV Golf appearance.

The addition of Canter to Majesticks GC, alongside team co-captains Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, and Sam Horsfield, creates a formidable all-English team poised to contend for championships in the 2026 season. This move underscores the continued evolution of the LIV Golf League and its ability to attract established talent.
