Veteran Malayalam actress Lalita passed away in Kochi due to ill health. He is 73 years old.

He has acted not only in Malayalam but also in many Tamil films. Lalita had been suffering from ill health recently.

He made his screen debut in 1969 with KS Sethu Madhavan’s ‘Koottukudumbam’ and has acted in more than 550 films in Malayalam and Tamil.

Lalita can be seen in good roles in many Tamil films including ‘Respect for Love’, ‘Paramasivan’, ‘Crown’, ‘Alaipayuthey’, ‘Mamanithan’ and ‘Kaatru Weliyidai’. Lalita, who is married to renowned director Bharathan, has won two National Awards for Best Supporting Actor and four State Awards from the Government of Kerala.

In recognition of his contribution to the Kerala government film industry, he was appointed President of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy in 2016.

Lalita’s health deteriorated in November last year. He was subsequently admitted to a private hospital.

Her son stayed home to rest after a recent illness. He died suddenly the day before yesterday.

Malayalam film industry is mourning the death of actress Lalita. Leading actors Mammootty and Mohanlal have said that Lalita’s death is shocking and will be remembered as her artistic contribution. The funeral of the late Lalita was held yesterday with full state honors.
