Muscat: India Maharajas start with victory in Legends League Cricket 2022. They beat Asia Lions by six wickets. Chasing the target of 176, India won the toss and elected to bat with five balls to spare. The victory was due to the excellence of the Pathan brothers. Yusuf Pathan scored 80 off 40 balls. Yusuf hit nine fours and five sixes.
Yusuf and skipper Mohammad Kaif put on 34 runs for the loss of three wickets in the seventh over. Kaif was unbeaten on 42 off 37 balls and Irfan Pathan on 21 off 10 balls. Shoaib Akhtar took one wicket for 21 runs in 4 overs.
Batting first, the Asia Lions scored 175 for 7 in 20 overs. Upul Tharanga was the top scorer with 66 off 46 balls. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored 44 off 30 balls. Dilshan returned with 5 off 3 balls and Mohammad Yusuf with 1 off 2 balls. Irfan Pathan took two wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs for India Maharaja. Manpreet Gony took three wickets for 45 runs.
Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Chaminda Vaz and Romesh Kaluvitarana were on the bench.
