Leica introduced the first smartphone in its history

Leica Camera, a camera and lens maker, has unveiled the Leitz Phone 1, the first ever smartphone. The first market for a smartphone will be Japan – Leica Leitz Phone 1 will be available only from Softbank. The cost of the device, pre-orders for which will begin to be accepted from June 18, will cost about $ 1.7 thousand.

The smartphone is built on Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 platform with 5G support. 6.6-inch curved OLED display with WUXGA + resolution (2730 x 1260 dots) with refresh rates up to 240 Hz. A front-facing 12.6 megapixel camera is built into the screen, and the main module includes a single 20.2 megapixel camera with a 1-inch image sensor.

The Leitz Phone 1 has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, the volume of which can be expanded with a microSD memory card up to 1 TB. The device with a 5000 mAh battery is IP68 certified against dust and moisture. The smartphone runs on the Android 11 operating system with a proprietary shell.

Technically, the new Leica repeats the previously presented Sharp Aquos R6 smartphone. The new Leitz Phone 1 differs from the Sharp model in a redesigned case, the design of which is stylized for Leica cameras, as well as a branded hard case and a camera lens cover, also made in the style of Leica cameras.
