Let’s go! This year the Pie de Lana Cultural Collective will once again hold its Lent tours through churches in the Historic Center of Guatemala.
The experience will not only allow you to learn more about the temples, but will also allow you to visit other places related to the era. We tell you all the details!
Lent tours to visit the churches in zone 1 of Guatemala City
During these Cuaresma towers will be visiting the iglesias who organize the main processions of the Historic center so you can learn about its architectural style, the most revered passion images and some curious facts about its processions.
These are the temples that will be visited:
- Church of Santo Domingo
- St. Joseph’s Church
- Candelaria Church
- La Merced Church
You will also be able to learn interesting facts about Miguel Ángel Asturias’ gifts to the Nazarene of his devotion, the Christ who came from the sea and the image that was sworn as Patron against the Plagues.
A tour to learn more about Lent and Holy Week
Lent and Holy Week are characterized by their carpets, cones, food and landscapes created with the flowers of the trees and that is why the tours will also take you to visit:
- Sales of carpet elements
- Processional routes and their emblematic points
- Food and drink of the time
- Jacarandas, matilisguates and bougainvilleas
- Cone supply stores

The tours take place on foot every Sunday of Lent from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The price per tour is Q 50.00 for adults and teenagers, while children pay Q 15.00.
