“Let’s act as Rajinikanth’s daughter”; 10 lakh rupees was extorted by promise; 21-year-old with complaint

Mumbai: Complaint of extorting lakhs from 21-year-old girl by making her believe that she will give her a chance in Superstar Rajinikanth’s film. The group tricked the woman by saying that they were the owners of a Hyderabad-based company called Venkateswara Creations. Then Rajinikanth promised to act in the film and extorted Rs 10 lakh. The incident came to light when the woman lodged a complaint with the Dahisar police.

Venkateswara Creations referred to by the defendants is a film company that has produced several Telugu films. The company has been active since 2003. On July 28 last, the accused approached the woman, introducing their names as Piyush Jain and Manthan Ruparel, believing that they were the owners of this company.

The fraud team said that they are making two films RC-15 and Jailer with Rajinikanth and in one film as the actor’s daughter and in the other as a hacker. The woman was also charged money for procedures such as obtaining government approval and passport verification.

The police have received information that the group has extorted money from many aspiring artists. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway. Deputy Commissioner Somnath Kharge informed that the search for the accused has been intensified.
