From Niederbreitenbach in the Lower Inn Valley we hike up to the Hohlensteinhaus, which is a stopover on the Tyrolean Eagle Trail.

At the edge of the forest in the area of the highest point of the access road, the designated (initially asphalted) footpath to the Hohlensteinhaus begins on the right. At the farm in the clearing, take the path to the left, which usually leads straight up the steep terrain. Here in the deciduous forest you have to be careful not to slip on the leaves on the ground that are wet – or possibly frozen – in autumn. And endurance is also required for the tough route. At a fork in the climb near a bank, our destination is marked twice – we keep to the right (Mitterwall route). Soon it goes briefly along a road, then left again up the path. There is another small passage on the road, at the highest point you turn left again to the path. View of the stately mountains But here the route shows its tame face, in the steep terrain it now leads comfortably up in wide serpentines in the mostly sparse forest. In the south and southeast you can see the “Koasa”, the Kitzbüheler Horn and the striking Großvenediger. The path then leads into the open alpine pastures and finally a few meters down to the magnificent cave stone house in a depression. The noise from the Inn Valley has disappeared, there is a spacious playground for the children, and the house and farm cats as well as the chickens are also attractions . At this wonderful place we will end the hut season of summer 2023 with food and drink.
