Bellacolin obtained approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in January
“Competitiveness increased through quality differentiation that affects pain”
Sharing the latest information, including benefits of Bellacolin and contouring procedures
LG Chem announced on the 8th that it held an ABC (Assured Beautification Credible) Symposium to commemorate the launch of ‘Bellacholine’, an injection for improving submental fat, for about 70 domestic cosmetic surgery medical staff. ABC Symposium is a symposium program operated by LG Chem for dermatology and clinic medical staff.
At this symposium, LG Chem focused on publicizing the competitiveness of its new product, ‘Bellacolin’, an injection for improving submental fat. Bellacolin is a deoxycholic acid preparation known as a fat-decomposing ingredient. Last January, it received sales approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a prescription drug for improving moderate to severe protrusion and excessive submental fat in adults.
At the symposium, So Jin-eon, managing director of LG Chem’s CMC Research Center, appeared as the first presenter. He introduced the differentiated quality of Bellacholine, emphasizing that product quality factors can affect the degree of pain after the procedure. Managing Director So Jin-eon said, “Bellacolin has an acidity (pH) similar to that of the human body and has secured quality competitiveness by minimizing the generation of sediment through a differentiated manufacturing process.” In addition, overseas clinical results of deoxycholic acid preparations were also shared. The clinical results showed that 68.2% of the deoxycholic acid treatment group showed improvement in submental fat by one level or more (20.5% of the placebo group) 3 months after the final administration. He also said that based on other clinical literature, he confirmed that the submental fat reduction effect was maintained even after one year.
LG Chem Executive Director So Jin-eon followed with a topic presentation by Professor Han Seung-ho of Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital. Under the theme of ‘Clinical Anatomy of Submental Region’, he presented surgical know-how while providing an in-depth explanation of anatomical structures that require safety precautions. The latest knowledge on contouring procedures using Bellacolin was also introduced at the symposium.
“We expect Bellacoline to be the optimal choice for consumers who want clear contours,” said Noh Ji-hye, head of LG Chem’s aesthetics division. “We will be reborn as a leading global medical aesthetics company that continues to provide optimal solutions to consumer needs.”
LG Chem produces Korea’s first hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers ‘Yvoire’ and ‘Yvoire Y-Solution’, as well as injectable skin booster ‘Vitaran’, precision cooling pain relief device ‘Target Cool’, and fat decomposition agent ‘Bellacolin’. We have a diverse skin care portfolio. The ABC Symposium has been operated since 2014 to share medical aesthetic treatment know-how in a timely manner with domestic and foreign customers.
