LG Display Unveils Groundbreaking Gaming OLED Panels at CES 2026, Setting New Industry Records
Table of Contents
LG Display is poised to redefine the gaming display landscape with a series of record-breaking OLED panels set to debut at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, January 6-9. The South Korean technology giant will showcase innovations promising unparalleled speed, resolution, and visual fidelity, solidifying its position as a leader in display technology.
Unprecedented Speed and Responsiveness
At the heart of LG Display’s CES showcase is a 27-inch Gaming OLED panel boasting an astonishing 720Hz refresh rate – the fastest currently available for OLED gaming displays. A refresh rate measures how many times per second a screen updates its image, with 720Hz translating to 720 updates every second. This breakthrough, according to a company release, is paired with an ultra-low 0.02ms response time, exceeding the speed of typical LCD panels by a factor of 150. This combination virtually eliminates motion blur and afterimages, even during the most demanding gaming scenarios.
Pushing Resolution Boundaries with 5K2K Gaming
LG Display will also unveil the world’s first 39-inch 5K2K Gaming OLED panel. Currently, LG Display is the sole manufacturer of 39-inch OLED panels globally. These curved displays, featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio and 1500R curvature, are designed to deliver an immersive viewing experience, particularly for content creators like video editors and cinematographers who require ultra-high resolution exceeding that of UHD.
Enhanced Visual Clarity with RGB Stripe Pixel Structure
Visitors to CES 2026 will also witness a first-of-its-kind OLED panel incorporating a 240Hz RGB stripe pixel structure. This technology, in addition to its high refresh rate, delivers highly detailed graphics at 160 pixels per inch (ppi). Optimized for common operating systems, the precise pixel arrangement ensures exceptionally sharp text and accurate color reproduction.
Primary RGB Tandem 2.0: Elevating OLED Brightness and Color
LG Display plans to integrate its new Primary RGB Tandem 2.0 technology into all Gaming OLED panels launching in 2026. Building upon last year’s introduction of Primary RGB Tandem technology – the first OLED stack structure with independent emission layers for each primary color – the 2.0 iteration features an optimized pixel structure and advanced algorithms. This results in peak brightness reaching up to 1,500 nits, perfect blacks with HDR True Black 500, and coverage of up to 99.5% of the DIC color gamut, promising exceptionally lifelike picture quality.
“With unmatched refresh rates, resolution, and response times that every gamer dreams of, LG Display is solidifying the unique strength of its OLED panels and enhancing global competitiveness,” stated Lee Hyun-woo, Head of the Large Display Business Unit at LG Display. He further emphasized the company’s commitment to market expansion, adding, “As demand for OLED monitors continues to grow, we plan to accelerate expansion into the market beginning next year, led by world-best and world-first technologies.”
