LG Wireless Atmos: 2025 TV Update Explained

by Priyanka Patel

LG is rolling out Dolby Atmos FlexConnect to its 2025 OLED and QNED TVs, perhaps solving a common home theatre headache: tangled HDMI cables. The update, already live globally, promises a cleaner, more flexible audio setup.

FlexConnect: Wireless Atmos, finally?

A new standard aims to simplify home theater audio by wirelessly connecting TVs to speakers.

  • Dolby Atmos FlexConnect wirelessly connects LG TVs to up to four speakers and one subwoofer.
  • The system uses the TV’s microphones to map speaker placement for optimized sound.
  • The update is available now for select 2025 LG TVs, and standard on 2026 models.
  • Currently, FlexConnect only works with LG audio products.

For years, achieving immersive Dolby Atmos sound meant wrestling with a mess of HDMI cables. Dolby’s flexconnect aims to change that. The technology wirelessly links compatible LG TVs to speakers, eliminating much of the wiring hassle.

When paired with supported speakers, the system can connect to up to four speakers and one subwoofer. the TV then uses its built-in microphones to analyze the room and determine the precise location of each speaker-even if they’re tucked away on bookshelves or behind furniture-and adjusts the audio output accordingly.

update Method

  • Method: Most TVs will download the update automatically. You can also manually check for updates in the “Software Update” menu, or download it from LG’s support site via USB.
