Apart from supporting the interim government, the BNP has held a meeting with two other political parties, including the Democratic Left Alliance, to consolidate the unity that has developed among themselves.
These meetings were held periodically at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan of the capital on Monday (September 9) from evening to night.
The first meeting with the BNP was with the Democratic Left Alliance, led by the coalition’s coordinator Haroon Al Rashid Khan. Then there was a meeting with the People’s Rights Council led by Mia Moshiuzzaman and finally with the National Democratic Movement-NDM led by Bobby Hajjaj.
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury was accompanied by the party’s Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu in these three meetings. Earlier on September 6, BNP held a meeting with Gano Forum, Bangladesh People’s Party and Nap-Bhasani.
After the meeting, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said to the journalists, “Those with whom we met are our movement partners, we all have many sacrifices, we have gone to jail, we have all been tortured.” We have continued that communication.
He said, after the country became independent for the second time, we started talking among ourselves again. In this discussion we discussed the dream of Bangladesh. Since the escape of Sheikh Hasina, the new thoughts, the new desires, the new expectations that have been created in the minds of the people of Bangladesh, we discussed what the parties in the simultaneous movement will do to build a new Bangladesh in the future.
Amir Khusro also said that since there is an interim government now that people have confidence in him, we also have confidence and support. We are hopeful that this government will be able to fulfill the aspirations of the people. I will give them full support. There was talk about how to bring back the ruined institutions through state reforms. We all did 31 points together. I will do the implementation together. We will work together to implement the national government. Expect elections after completing basic reforms.
He said, people have protested to bring back democratic rights. The country will follow the words of the people.
Mia Moshiuzzaman said, I will support the government to run the country properly. There are 31 points that want to reform after the next election. We want to implement these through the national government.
Haroon Al Rashid Khan said, the initial victory has been achieved. The main task of the interim government will be to hand over power to the elected government. There should be a national government keeping the national unity.
Bobby Hajjaz said, earlier there was a meeting to overthrow the government, this time it is a meeting to reach the benefits of the movement to the people. The new democracy must be handed over to the people. There is state reform through 31 points. Everyone will work together to implement 31 points. Even if new reforms are needed, we will work together. Everyone should work together.
