(ANSA) – CAIRO, AUGUST 10 - Due to clashes between two militias supporting the government of national unity established in Tripoli and led by Prime Minister Abdelahmid Dbeibah, the university in the Libyan capital has announced that it is forced to suspend its activities. “The University of Tripoli announces the suspension of all classes and exams until further notice due to the ongoing armed clashes in the Libyan capital,” wrote the Libya Review website on X this morning, also reporting the mobilization of ”military vehicles” in the city. Nine people were killed yesterday in clashes between two rival armed groups in the eastern outskirts of Tripoli, according to emergency services. “The death toll from the clashes has reached nine,” the Libyan capital’s ambulance and rescue service said in a statement accompanied by images of its members recovering bodies in various places in the suburb of Tajoura. The statement did not specify whether civilians were among the victims. According to witnesses, the clashes broke out at midday and continued for hours. (HANDLE).
