Libyan-Turkish discussions to develop waste recycling projects in Libya

Yesterday, Sunday, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government for Municipal Affairs, Mustafa Ahmed, discussed aspects of cooperation in the field of waste management and recycling and waste disposal, during a meeting he held with the work team of the Libyan Company for Managing Participation Projects with the Private Sector and the operations management team of the Turkish Al-Bayrak Group.

The agent expressed his aspiration to open new horizons of cooperation with the Turkish side in the field of waste management and recycling, especially in terms of exchanging experiences and capacity building.

Ahmed pointed out that the Ministry pays great attention to this file and places it on its list of priorities, and considers it one of the important areas of an environmental and economic nature.

The Turkish Albayrak Group team gave a visual presentation about the group, its fields of work, the number of countries in which it operates, its expertise, and the equipment and supplies it manufactures and uses in the field of waste management and recycling, stressing their full readiness to cooperate with the Ministry in preparing a comprehensive study on the waste sector.

The meeting concluded by holding technical meetings and conducting field visits to various points and sites through which waste passes throughout its journey from generation to disposal, in order to assess the current situation of waste management in the country and identify needs and opportunities to improve and develop current processes.
