Life in the garbage: the British artist who moved to live in a garbage can

by time news

Housing prices are soaring not only in Israel: Architect and artist Harrison Marshall decided he was tired of paying high rent, so he took a large garbage can found in central London and turned it into his new home for the next year.

On an Instagram page he opened especially for the new house, he shared the renovation and construction of the garbage can, which eventually became a small, compact house that includes a bed on the second floor, and a small kitchenette on the first floor. In case you were wondering, Marshall admitted that he has a portable toilet outside the house, and he takes his showers at work or at the gym.

Harrison Marshall claims that the project, which was done in collaboration with his “Ka-O-Kin” architecture studio and the “Skip” gallery, is a response to the increase in housing prices, and is not a solution but an artistic statement. “As a designer, I firmly believe that creativity can be a powerful tool to break the laws of life” he posts on his trash house’s Instagram page “There is always a way – often it is our lack of imagination that limits us”.
