Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George on Monday said that the DMOs should seek prior permission to respond to the Omicron issue. The minister clarified that the DMOs will not be banned from the media and will not reconsider the action taken in the circular. The minister said that it was a lightning visit to Attappady and would not respond to the Kottathara hospital superintendent’s remark and would continue to visit government hospitals.
The Department of Health said that only the Minister of Health or the Director of Health should disclose information on the Omicron issue and that DMOs should obtain prior approval and respond. The directive was issued in the wake of Kozhikode DMO Omicron’s suspicion. Kozhikode DMO Dr. Ummer Farooq was also given a show cause notice. Unnecessary fears have been raised and an explanation is needed in this regard.
Kottathara Hospital Superintendent and Attappady Tribal Health Nodal Officer Dr. K.S. R. The minister said that the lightning visit will continue as soon as Prabhudas arrives on the scene. He said that he did not understand what was better because the minister had visited Attappady when he was not there and that he had to answer for himself here. R. Prabhudas had responded. It is imperative for the Minister to reach Attappady before the visit of the Leader of the Opposition. He also alleged that the minister may have arrived suddenly.
