While the sound of boots is loudly heard in the China Sea, the war in Ukraine ends its sixth month. This war between the West and Russia and the tension that is building up further East, because of Taiwan, between the West and China mark the end of the unipolar world as we have known it for thirty years.
The expression is now dropped, at least by Moscow, which intends to explain to the world its vision of current conflicts and the issues underlying them. And it is the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, who took it upon himself to state this thesis. “February 24, 2022, the date of the start of the ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine, marks the end of a unipolar world. Multipolarity has become a reality. The poles of this world have been clearly defined”, did he declare [le 16 août] in a speech at the opening of the Moscow Conference on International Security.
Sergei Shoigu specifies that if the multipolar world has become “the reality of today”, this passage from the domination of a world leader to several centers of gravity is not easy. “However, it creates real conditions for the development of sovereign states,” he detailed.
The Russian minister is convinced of this, saying that the unconditional domination of the United States and its allies is a thing of the past
