Ronald Araujo, score: 8
Barcelona’s stopper dominated at the back and continued to show why he is the present and future stopper of the club
Jose Luis Morales, score: 4
The striker should have done much more than the opportunities he got
The story of the Spanish league continues to be told this year first and foremost by Barcelona. Tonight (Sunday), the Catalans achieved their 11th victory in a row in all competitions with 0:1 against Villarreal in the 21st round of La Liga. The game, like all Spanish league games, was broadcast on channel ONE for HOT subscribers, yes subscribers, Cellcom TV and Partner TV.
Xavi’s team started the game wonderfully, sweeping the grass and threatening Pepe Reina’s goal. Robert Lewandowski managed to miss in a one-on-one, but in the 18th minute he scored at the end of a great team move for Pedri that gave his team an important advantage. Barcelona calmed down from there and the game was balanced, when both sides had opportunities to score that were not used and thus the result of the game was determined, 0:1 for the leader of the table.
The Catalans at least temporarily increased the gap to 11 points from Real Madrid and took another big step in the fight for the championship. Ronald Araujo was everywhere at the back and excelled, Barcelona continue to be a team that is first and foremost impressively led by the defence.
