A promising prospect awaits UC Davis standout Zack Lillington,who has been invited to participate in the prestigious 2025 Major League Soccer College Showcase,the league announced on Tuesday. The showcase, a key event in identifying future MLS talent, will be held from December 10-13 in Mesa, Arizona.
Scouting Ground for Future stars
The four-day event provides technical staffs from MLS clubs with an exclusive opportunity to evaluate the nation’s top collegiate players. This intensive scouting period directly precedes the 2026 MLS SuperDraft,scheduled for Thursday,December 18. The showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA, ensuring a focused and professional habitat for player evaluation.
Lillington’s Standout Season
Lillington’s invitation comes on the heels of a stellar senior campaign where he earned All-Big west Second Team recognition for the second year in a row. The midfielder demonstrated a well-rounded skillset, leading the UC Davis Aggies with an extraordinary 60 shots and 24 shots on goal.
Throughout the year, Lillington contributed significantly to the team’s offense, totaling three goals and three assists. He proved particularly impactful during conference play, scoring twice, including a dramatic game-winning goal in the 89th minute against rival Sacramento State. He also registered assists against Washington, San Jose State, and Cal State Bakersfield.
