Durst Reflects on a Profound Connection
Fred Durst, Limp Bizkit’s frontman and lead vocalist, shared a video on Sunday morning recounting his first meeting with Rivers at a club in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and their subsequent journey to musical success. Durst revealed his deep grief, stating he had shed “gallons and gallons of tears since yesterday.”
Durst emphasized Rivers’ lasting legacy, saying, “He really did have an impact on the world and his music and his gift is the one that’s going to keep on giving.” He added, “I just love him so much.”
Battling Illness and a Musical Reunion
Rivers had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with heavy drinking and the resulting liver disease. He departed from Limp Bizkit in 2015 and underwent a liver transplant before joyfully reuniting with the band three years later.
Despite the loss, Limp Bizkit is scheduled to continue its tour of Central and South America, beginning in Mexico City in late November. Durst also shared that he and Rivers bonded over a shared love of grunge music, specifically mentioning bands like Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots.
