Lone Tree, Iowa – December 27, 2025 – Linda Louise Forbes, a beloved figure in the Lone Tree community and a dedicated healthcare professional, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Her passing marks the end of an era for those who knew her warmth, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family and service.
A Lifetime Rooted in Community and Care

- Born April 25, 1945, in Muscatine, Iowa, Linda Forbes spent most of her life in Lone Tree, becoming a pillar of the local community.
- She worked in healthcare for 35 years, including 33 years at the Lone Tree Family Clinic and two years at the University of Iowa River Crossing Clinic in Riverside.

Linda Louise rummells was born the youngest of three children to George and Louise (Heath) Rummells. She graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1963 and married Lowell Forbes on February 8,1964,at the Lone Tree United Methodist Church.The couple built a life together in Lone Tree, becoming deeply involved in the town’s fabric.
For 35 years, Linda devoted herself to a career in healthcare. She spent 33 years at the Lone Tree Family Clinic, where she was known for her compassionate care and genuine connection with patients. She then continued her work for two years at the University of Iowa River Crossing Clinic in Riverside. Retirement in november 2011 was bittersweet, as she deeply missed the daily interactions with the people she served.
Beyond her professional life, Linda found joy in her family, her cat Luci, and a variety of hobbies. She and Lowell were keen attendees at the Iowa State Fair,enjoyed trying their luck at slot machines,and traveled to cheer on their favorite sports teams. A devoted reader, Linda also enjoyed revisiting classic James Bond movies and musicals, collecting recipes, and always having a Mountain Dew nearby. She maintained close ties with her children and grandchildren through frequent, detailed text messages.
In her later years, as mobility became more challenging, Linda relied on a strong network of friends and family. Her family expressed heartfelt gratitude for the “village” that surrounded her, providing visits, phone calls, cards, and regular check-ins. special thanks were extended to Home Rather, Moments Hospice, and the staff at the Lone Tree Health Care Center for their extraordinary care and kindness.
Linda is survived by her children: Steven (Johnetta) Forbes of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Phil (Kelli) Forbes of North Liberty, Iowa; and Amy (Brian) Whiting of Rosemount, Minnesota. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Forbes, Christopher (Annie) Forbes, Johnathon Forbes, Lucas Forbes, Alex Forbes, Brady Whiting, and Nathan Whiting, and also her brother, William (Doris) Rummells of Moline, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Forbes, and her parents, George and Louise Rummells.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Lone Tree United Presbyterian Church.Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at the Lone Tree cemetery, with a time for food and fellowship at the church afterward. memorial donations might potentially be directed to the Lone Tree Community Food Pantry and Moments Hospice.
