Lisa Mariana’s Lawsuit Against Ridwan Kamil Dismissed; Legal Counsel Steps Down

A Bandung court rejected the claims made by Lisa Mariana against former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil regarding children’s identity rights, effectively ending the first phase of a highly publicized legal battle. The decision, documented in case number 184/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Bandung and released publicly on Monday, December 8th, found all of Mariana’s arguments unproven.

The lawsuit centered on establishing the legal identity of Mariana’s child, with a key component being a DNA test. However, the Panel of Judges determined that the evidence presented, including the results of the DNA test, failed to substantiate her claims. This ruling marks a significant setback for Mariana in her pursuit of legal recognition.

Shortly after the court’s decision was announced, Lisa Mariana’s legal representation underwent a change. Her attorney, Markus Nababan, revealed his intention to withdraw from the case.

“From us, we will finalize it after this decision comes out,” Nababan stated during a meeting in Jakarta on Thursday, December 11th. “If later Mrs. Lisa Mariana wants to take other legal action, please do so, but from us we don’t want to go to an appeal.”

Nababan strongly advised Mariana to accept the court’s ruling, given the comprehensive rejection of her claims. “I suggest just accepting it because nothing has been accepted (by the court). So what else do you want?” he added.

The attorney indicated that his firm’s commitment extended only to the initial court proceedings. He also noted that his client’s response to the verdict was somewhat unclear, attributing it to her involvement in other ongoing legal matters. “His response may not have been focused because he was having problems everywhere, maybe that’s his personality,” Nababan concluded.

The outcome of this case raises questions about the complexities of establishing parental rights and navigating the Indonesian legal system. While Mariana has the option to pursue further appeals, her former counsel’s departure suggests a challenging path forward.
