The National Cybersecurity Center of Lithuania (NCKB) has denounced on Monday a series of cyberattacks against several web pages and a mobile transport application in the capital, Vilnius, the scene of the next NATO summit, which starts on Tuesday.

“This is the moment, DDoS attacks are happening again in our country,” the head of the NCKB, Ludas Alisauskas, told the press, according to the Lithuanian radio and television LRT.

According to Alisauskas, a website dedicated to the sale of transport tickets and another government website have been “hacked” and there are “interruptions”.

The National Cyber ​​Security Center is now working in cooperation with the special services and the Lithuanian Police to resolve the situation.

These incidents occur at a time when Vilnius is preparing to host a new summit of leaders of the Atlantic Alliance. Alisauskas has warned institutions to be prepared for new potential cyber threats.

A DDoS attack is a type of cyber attack that attempts to make a website or network resource unavailable by flooding it with malicious traffic so that it cannot function properly and as usual.
