Singapore police are investigating an alleged assault in Little India that left a motorist fearing for his life, after a confrontation with a couple he says blocked traffic on December 26.

A driver is seeking witnesses after an altercation with a reportedly intoxicated couple escalated into a physical attack on December 26.

- The motorist alleges he was assaulted after politely honking at the couple, who were walking in the middle of the road.

The driver,who wishes to remain anonymous,recounted the events in a police report. He stated he was driving home when the couple was obstructing Dunlop Road. After sounding his horn to alert them, he claims the man struck his side mirror and driver’s door.
The motorist stopped his vehicle and confronted the man, who allegedly responded with a dismissive, “What can you do?” He parked his car and again approached the man, receiving the same retort. The man then reportedly added sarcastically, “I’m scared,” before removing his rings, suggesting a willingness to fight.
The situation continued to escalate when, according to the motorist, the man blew cigarette smoke in his face and began pushing him. “He became angry and pinned me down on a nearby car. He held his hand onto my neck and I feared for my life that it might break,” the motorist stated in his report.
The man’s girlfriend reportedly intervened, leading him away across the road. The motorist captured video footage of the couple walking away, and alleges the man attempted to grab his mobile phone, but was unsuccessful. He then followed them towards Jalan Besar MRT station,taking photographs of them.
The motorist promptly filed a police report at the Rochor Neighbourhood Police Center following the incident. The following day, he sought medical attention at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he was granted three days of medical leave.
