HYBE’s documentary about the growth of the group Seraphim has received mixed reactions from the public.
On the 29th, ahead of Seraphim’s comeback, HYBE released five documentary videos titled ‘Make It Look Easy’ through their official channel. In the videos, the members are shown practicing tirelessly to stand on various stages both domestically and internationally, and also reveal their honest inner feelings through individual interviews.
While practicing with a vocal trainer, Sakura cried and showed a lack of confidence, saying, “I’m so scared of singing in front of people. I want to enjoy singing.”
Also, “I don’t know why I chose to be an idol. Rather than saying it was a wrong choice, I think, ‘Idol was really a job I could do well. ’ When I make a mistake or feel my limitations, there are times when I think, ‘If it weren’t for me, someone better could have done it. ’” She confessed, “When I listen to (people’s) stories, I sometimes think like that. Why am I having such a hard time and crying like this? Why do I want to do this so badly?”
When the topic of her goals as a singer came up, Kim Chae-won said, “Rather than a grand goal…” and shed tears, saying, “I don’t know either. I don’t know how to be happy.” She continued, “There are times when I get tired, and in fact, there are times when I want to quit, and then there are times when I have fun. I keep telling myself that I shouldn’t get tired, but it doesn’t go as planned. I think that’s burdensome.”
Heo Yoon-jin expressed her concerns while talking to Hive CEO Bang Si-hyuk, saying, “I always have to be very mindful of what others think. I have to be mindful of the public’s feelings, and I also have to be mindful of the feelings of people who work in this industry and whom we need to look good for.”
Netizens’ reactions to this were mixed. Many were impressed by the members’ efforts and perseverance in the harsh world of idols, but some did not agree with the fact that HYBE uploaded a video that only emphasized Seraphim’s efforts when Seraphim, who had been criticized for her unstable live performance at Coachella in April, had not yet shown a stage that showed enough growth to settle the controversy.
